ANGAHUAN 2
MICHOACAN
Image #1008
The portal of the Temple of Saint James (Santiago), carved from the local volcanic stone, is covered with rich tequitqui carvings contained in an alfiz of rectangular panels. The temple, erected in 1562-77, was unknown to architectural historians until the eruption of the volcano Paricutín in 1943 exposed it to the world.
