TECALI DE HERRERA 7
PUEBLA
Image #1121
Grass creates a green carpet at the roofless 16th century Franciscan church of Saint James the Apostle (Santiago Apostal). Destroyed by earthquake in the 17th century, the ruins perfectly evoke the form of a three aisled basilica. Tecali is the indigenous word for onyx and the translucent material was used in windows in early church constructions.
